Don't forget today is Mega Swagbucks day. That means you can earn even more swagbucks today. For those of you who don't know what swagbucks is, it is a search engine that will reward you with swagbucks randomly while doing searches (there are also other ways to earn , like printing coupons through their site  and redeeming them). You can trade in your swagbucks for things like gift cards to amazon, Lowes, southwest, etc.  Just go here to join.

Today Walmart has this tub on sale for only $10.  If you have kids that are into this kind of thing, I suggest buying it and putting it away for Christmas.  Remember to pick site to store as your shipping method, so you don't have to pay shipping charges.  I have almost finished my Christmas shopping for my 3 girls, and I have spent less than $20 so far. Has anyone else started?

Fresh Fruits and Veggies

I have been asked by several people this week about how to save on fresh fruits and veggies. Coupons for fresh veggies are few and far between, so it can be difficult to get great savings on them. But I do have a couple of tips that might help.

1- My first tip is an obvious one,  buy what is in season and shop the store ads.

2- Use a local co-op. My family uses bountiful bakets to get our fresh fruits and vegetables. The basket usually includes 6 fruits and 6 veggies for $15.00 (plus $1.50 handling fee).  All you have to do is go to http://www.bountifulbaskets.org/ and create an account. You will have to pay a $3.00 fee for your first basket, but you will never have to pay it again.  In Utah you need to reserve your basket at 10 am Monday morning, you will then pick up your produce the following Saturday at your chosen location. You will also need to take your own basket to bring your produce home in, I just use my laundry basket. You never know from week to week what you will receive in your basket, here is some of what we received this week: ( I know I am missing something, but we already ate them, so now I can't remember what they were)

1 head iceburg lettuce
6 large carrots (they were huge)
5 tomatoes
6-8 nectarines
1 honey dew melon
4 red pears
3 acorn squash
1 bunch swiss chard
5-6 bananas

One way that I earn a little extra cash is survey companies.

Opinion Outpost is one of my favorites.   I get at least one survey from them a day, but I don't always qualify. (that means I don't meet the demographics they are looking for) Every 10 points is equal to $1. You need 200 points to cash out for $20. I have received several checks from them in the past, so they are legit.

Why do you coupon?

This is the question that I get asked most often. I never know how to answer that question, because I have more than one reason. But my current motivation is my 2 year old. She wakes up every morning and asks if we can go to Disneyland, pleeeeease! After 3 months of hearing her pleas, I have decided to start saving for a trip to disneyland. So my head has been spinning with ideas on how to start saving the money. Anyone have any good tips on how you cut corners to save some money?

Mega Swagbucks Friday

Today is mega swagbucks Friday, so start searching! If you aren't yet a member of swagbucks, just go here to sign up.
